Vegan Tarte Flambée: Easy Vegan BBQ Recipe

Delicious vegan tarte flambée from the grill, topped with onions, tomatoes and fresh arugula. This tarte flambée is super easy to prepare and a great dish for the grill. With the crunchy vegetables, the tarte flambée will be a real eye-catcher at any barbecue. With purely vegetable ingredients, this vegan dish is of course delicious and guaranteed to taste even non-vegans.

This vegan tarte flambée is incredibly delicious. Topped with cherry tomatoes, red onions and fresh arugula, this vegan grilled pizza is a summery dish. The dough can be topped however you like. I like tarte flambée, for example, also as a sweet version topped with apples or peaches. With a little mustard it gives an interesting explosion of flavor.

This homemade vegan tarte flambée is made with purely vegetable ingredients. The recipe comes with few ingredients and is prepared quickly and easily. The tarte flambée can be topped as desired and tastes simply everyone! This vegan recipe is also without milk, without eggs, without butter and Co! Therefore: Purely vegetable and super delicious!

Simple and fast: Vegan tarte flambée from the grill

This tarte flambée can be perfectly prepared on a pizza stone. So the dough becomes super crispy and is quickly baked through. A kettle grill or gas grill is best suited for this. If you don’t have a grill, you can also prepare the tarte flambée in the oven. Preheat the oven to 250 degrees and bake on a baking tray for 15-20 minutes until crispy.

Hearty vegan tarte flambée: Simply delicious!

The tarte flambée recipe is super simple. 

  1. Knead all the ingredients for the dough and put it in the fridge for 15-20min.
  2. Meanwhile, prepare the toppings. For a savory version, red onions, cherry tomatoes and arugula are super tasty. If you prefer it sweet, you can also top the tarte flambée with apple slices or peach and put some mustard over the tarte flambée.
  3. Roll out the dough on a floured work surface and spread it with vegan crème fraîche. Then top the dough with the toppings of your choice. 
  4. Place the dough patties on the grill or in the oven and bake until crispy.
    Transfer to a plate and serve with fresh arugula.

Delicious vegan tarte flambée from the grill, topped with onions, tomatoes and fresh arugula. This tarte flambée is super easy to prepare and a great dish for a BBQ!

ingredients

  • For the dough
  • 250 g flour

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

  • 125 ml water (cold)

  • 1 pinch of salt

  • For the topping
  • 1 cup vegan crème fraîche

  • 1 large onion (red)

  • 200 g cherry tomatoes

  • 200 g arugula

  • salt, pepper, spices to taste

instructions

  • Knead all ingredients in a bowl with a mixer (kneading attachment) to a uniform dough.
  • Place dough in an airtight tin and refrigerate for 15-20min.
  • If available, heat pizza stone on grill.
  • Meanwhile, prepare the vegetables for the topping. For this, wash and halve cherry tomatoes, cut onions into fine rings or small cubes and wash arugula and drain well.
  • Divide dough into 2 large or 8 small balls and roll out thinly on a floured work surface with a rolling pin.
  • Spread the dough balls with the vegan crème fraîche and top with red onions and cherry tomatoes, seasoning to taste.
  • Slide the topped tarte flambée dough onto the pizza stone and grill for 3-4 minutes. After half the time, turn the tarte flambée once.
  • Finally, transfer the tarte flambée from the pizza stone to a plate and serve with fresh arugula.
